The City of Chicago has officially released the schedule for spring bridge lifts along the Chicago River, starting Saturday, April 19, 2025.
This seasonal operation allows recreational boats to travel from their winter storage to docks along Lake Michigan. A total of 27 moveable bridges, from South Ashland Avenue to DuSable Lake Shore Drive, will be raised twice a week, on Saturdays at 8:00 AM and Wednesdays at 9:00 AM.
Each lift lasts approximately 10 minutes, during which vehicle and pedestrian traffic is temporarily halted.
