The Municipality of Vlasotince is preparing to implement the Vlasotince town square redevelopment project. A public presentation ran through August 21, giving residents an opportunity to submit suggestions and ask questions about the planned work. Following the presentation, a public discussion was held on August 24.

Pedestrian Zone and New Greenery

The central element of the town square redevelopment project is the removal of the existing roadway that separated the square from the plaza in front of the municipal building, the creation of a dominant pedestrian zone, and the redevelopment of the central public space with designated areas for movement. As for landscaping, the plan calls for planting 30 large trees. An assessment of the existing vegetation has also been prepared, identifying the trees that will be preserved, those that will be removed, and measures for maintaining the remaining vegetation.

Project Valued at €587,060

The Vlasotince town square redevelopment subproject, with an estimated value of €587,060, is part of the Serbia Local Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project – LIID. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in cooperation with the World Bank and the French Development Agency.

Two More Subprojects Planned

– In addition to the town square redevelopment, for which funding has been approved, we will submit two more subprojects. One is the “Vlasina Public Parking Facility in Vlasotince on Nikola Tesla Street,” while the other is the “Redevelopment of the Vlasina Riverbank,” which involves pedestrian paths and lighting from the dam to the Roma settlement and from the Gallery to the dairy market. Benches and trash receptacles are also planned along that stretch – said Vlasotince Deputy Municipal President Vladimir Kocić.

All information about the LIID project and the subprojects to be implemented in the Municipality of Vlasotince is available on the municipality’s website under the LIID banner.
