Kotlićijada in Lyons Brought Together Tradition, Food, and Business

A Kotlićijada in Lyons gathered around ten teams, a rich menu, many visitors, and the first Business Fair at St. Nicholas Church.

A Kotlićijada was held on the grounds of St. Nicholas Church in Lyons, a suburb of Chicago, with around ten teams from Chicago and the surrounding area taking part.

Alongside this now traditional Kotlićijada, a Business Fair was also held for the first time, featuring parishioners from this church and community who run their own businesses.

Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of traditional dishes, from goulash and paprika stew to beans, mixed meat dishes, and soups. There was also barbecue, cicvara, and pork cracklings, and as is customary at gatherings like this, a whole roast pig was prepared as well. Last but certainly not least, visitors could enjoy delicious pancakes, for which a long line formed.

The event was designed to bring together our people from Chicago and the surrounding area and, through socializing, present traditional Serbian dishes.

Among the many visitors enjoying the event was Serbia’s Vice Consul in Chicago, Andrija Zečević.

The team “Garaža,” which prepared several outstanding dishes, was named the winner of this year’s Kotlićijada in Lyons.
