Expo 2027 Belgrade will take part in several events in Washington on June 4 and 5 as part of efforts to strengthen transatlantic cooperation and partnership, including a panel discussion at the U.S. Congress.
Roundtable on innovation and development
A roundtable organized by the Atlantic Council is planned for the first day of the visit under the theme “Innovation and Economic Development in Southeast Europe.” Participants will include Expo 2027 Belgrade Chief Operating Officer and Director of the International Participants Department Igor Kovačević, Archer Aviation Vice President and Head of Government Business Development David Rader, Cisco Vice President for Southern Europe Agostino Santoni, and Gavin M. Wax, chief of staff to the U.S. Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs for Expo 2027 at the State Department.
Capitol Hill reception and Congress panel
After the roundtable, a ceremonial reception will be held on Capitol Hill, where remarks are planned from Transatlantic Leadership Network Executive Vice President Saša Toperić, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, Igor Kovačević, and Gavin Wax. The panel discussion at the U.S. Congress is scheduled for June 5, and the moderator will be Peter Roff, head of the FMI initiative, the Free Media Initiative, and the Transatlantic Leadership Network.
Diplomats, media, and business community expected
The events are expected to bring together numerous ambassadors and diplomats accredited in the United States, along with representatives of the media, the business community, and Washington’s think tank community.
U.S. participation adds weight to Expo 2027
In mid-May, the United States formally confirmed its participation in Specialized Expo 2027 Belgrade by ceremonially signing the participation agreement. U.S. participation is seen as important for the exhibition’s international standing, while the reports also state that America’s arrival is the result of Serbia’s intensive diplomatic efforts.
Expo 2027 Belgrade, under the theme “Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All,” will be held from May 15 to August 15, 2027. More than four million visitors are expected, while 138 international participants have confirmed their attendance so far, a record number for specialized exhibitions.
