Today, a joint prayer service was held at St. Nicholas Church in Lyons, where children, students and university students received a blessing ahead of the new school year.
A large number of families attended the prayer service, wishing for their children to begin the new school year with prayer, faith and the blessing of the Church.
A New School Year With Prayer and Blessing
In an invitation sent about ten days earlier, the parish priest, Father Nemanja Tešić, stated: 
“Knowledge is a great gift from God, but true wisdom begins when a person entrusts his knowledge, efforts and life to the Lord. That is why it is important that our children begin the school year not only with new books, notebooks and plans, but above all with prayer, faith and the blessing of the Church. St. John Chrysostom reminds us that words alone are not enough in raising children, but above all the example of one’s life, character and deeds, because they are what bring God’s blessing.”
After the prayer and blessing, everyone present received an icon containing a small piece of the belt of the Holy Mother of God.
