Dr. Marko Nikolić, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Chicago, attended the Illinois Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon on September 24. Held at the Hilton Chicago, the event brought together representatives of Illinois companies, business associations and institutions, including business owners from Chicago’s Serbian and Macedonian communities.
Nikolić spoke with Jimmy Clayton, president and CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, and Kyungsoo “Dan” Kim, a U.S. Department of Commerce representative for Illinois. One topic was EXPO 2027, the international exhibition to be held in Serbia.
They also discussed connecting Illinois companies with potential business partners in Serbia and working with Serbian business owners based in Chicago.
Members of the American-Balkan Trade Center also attended. The recently established organization brings together business owners of Serbian and North Macedonian origin. It has formed a partnership with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, giving its members more direct opportunities to meet businesses across the state.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker also addressed the gathering.
