Bosnia and Herzegovina Elections: SNSD Retains Its Lead in Republika Srpska

The latest preliminary CEC results show SNSD leading the Republika Srpska assembly vote, while Savo Minić and Željka Cvijanović lead their respective races

According to the latest figures published on the evening of October 6, Savo Minić has 52.34% of the vote for president of Republika Srpska, while Željka Cvijanović holds a commanding lead in the race for the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. SNSD also leads in the election for the Republika Srpska National Assembly.

The October 4 general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina gave SNSD the largest share of the vote for the Republika Srpska National Assembly, with its candidates also leading in the two races for directly elected offices. The latest figures show Milorad Dodik’s party retaining its leading position in Republika Srpska, while PSS is ahead of SDS in the parliamentary vote.

Minić Leads Blanuša by 57,536 Votes

SNSD candidate Savo Minić has received 282,036 votes, or 52.34%. SDS candidate Branko Blanuša has received 224,500 votes, or 41.66%.

Minić’s lead stands at 57,536 votes. The figures, published at 6:26 p.m. on October 6, reflect results from 96.54% of polling stations.

In the race for the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović has received 298,366 votes, according to the latest update published at 6:37 p.m. on October 6, also based on results from 96.54% of polling stations. Marinko Božović has received 141,591 votes, while Nebojša Vukanović has received 96,616.

SNSD Takes 39.14%, With PSS in Second Place

In the Republika Srpska National Assembly election, SNSD has received 200,989 votes, or 39.14%. PSS has received 72,237 votes, or 14.07%, followed by SDS–Will of the People with 61,842 votes, or 12.04%.

DNS–NPS has received 28,495 votes, or 5.55%. Next are the SPS–DEMOS–NDP coalition with 27,916 votes, United Srpska with 27,140, SPS–United Srpska Movement with 23,615, and the For Justice and Order–PDP RS coalition with 23,596. This update was published at 6:57 p.m. on October 6, with results from 96.58% of regular polling stations processed.

These results put SNSD in the strongest position to negotiate a parliamentary majority and form a government. PSS’s second-place finish also has implications for the balance of power among opposition parties.

The published figures remain preliminary. Vote totals should therefore be distinguished from the final allocation of parliamentary seats and the official certification of the results.
