Pro Tips for the Best Experience

To make the most of your evening, a little planning goes a long way. First and foremost, you will want to arrive early to secure a prime spot on the Great Lawn. The gates open ahead of time, and locals typically start claiming the best areas between 5:30 PM and 5:45 PM, which is especially true for family classics and popular nostalgia nights.

When it comes to food, picnics are warmly welcomed, meaning you can easily pack your favorite snacks and alcoholic beverages. If you do not have time to prepare a basket beforehand, you can simply grab takeout from one of the many restaurants along Wabash Avenue or right beneath Cloud Gate, better known as The Bean.

Dress in Layers and Enjoy the View

As you pack, remember to dress in layers. Even if the day starts out hot, July and August evenings in Chicago can become quite cool once the lake breeze kicks in, so tossing a light jacket or an extra blanket into your bag is always a smart move. Finally, to ensure the experience is welcoming to all, every single film in the series features open captioning for full accessibility.
