The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of New Gracanica–Midwestern America has invited the faithful, families, and friends to attend the traditional St. Mardarije Day Celebration on Saturday, July 18, 2026. According to the organizers, the procession will begin at 6 a.m. at New Gracanica Monastery, 35240 W Grant Ave, Third Lake, IL 60046, and continue to St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville. The faithful will once again have the opportunity to honor St. Mardarije through shared prayer and procession, while preserving a tradition that has brought together the Serbian community in America for years.

The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the pavilion at St. Sava Monastery, located at 32377 N Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville, IL 60048. A large number of faithful, clergy, and guests are expected to gather to mark the remembrance of St. Mardarije, one of the most important Serbian Orthodox saints in North America.
Fellowship, seminary recognition, and renovation update
Following the liturgy, a fellowship program will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the pavilion area. Food, drinks, and refreshments are planned, along with official recognition for seminary graduates. A gathering that strengthens faith and community
Organizers say St. Mardarije Day is not only a spiritual observance, but also an opportunity to strengthen fellowship, preserve tradition, and bring Serbian families in the diaspora together. The official announcement also highlights the enduring legacy of St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville and provides contact information for those who want to learn more about the event or support the renovation project.
